According to data, researchers from Black Lotus Labs, a state-linked threat adversary, are exploiting a zero-day vulnerability in Versa Director servers in a campaign that is targeting managed service providers, internet service providers, and other forms. The vulnerability, called CVE-2024-39717, would allow users to upload files with malicious data and provide other advanced privileges.

Young Consulting, now called Connexure, notified nearly 1 million people in the US that their names and personal data were leaked in a cybersecurity and data breach in April of 2024. BlackSuit ransomware claimed the company and threatened to expose sensitive data to the public.

Spoof of GlobalProtect VPN Software Loads Malicious Content Into Search Results

According to the security researchers at United 42, a component of Palo Alto Networks, threat actors are spoofing GlobalProtect VPN software to deliver malicious payloads to people who trust the first results in Google Search. The actors placed ads on Google Search that appeared at the top of the search results, leading visitors to a malicious website.

Microchip Technology Reports Massive Disruption 

Microchip Technology reported that an unauthorized party disrupted the company’s servers and some of its business operations in mid-August. It is the latest US chipmaker to face these types of vulnerabilities this year. According to the company, it detected potentially suspicious activity in its IT systems and immediately took steps to assess and continue the issue. The company stated its manufacturing facilities were operating at less-than-normal levels, and its ability to fulfil orders was impacted by the incident.
